So improving efficiency for electric motors is one of the most basic and fundamental ways that businesses, consumers and the government can save energy, reduce operating costs and improve productivity.
There are multiple approaches to doing this: making more efficient motors is an obvious one. But in many cases, motor inefficiency is a consequence of the load which the motors are powering. Cases where motors have to have enough power to drive a load at full capacity but where the load is, in fact, often light. These are some of the most frequent cases of motor inefficiency.

A-Power Showing Signs of Strength
A-Power (Nasdaq: APWR) is showing strength this morning on the heels of its announcement that it signed an LOI with GE Drivetrain Technologies whereby GE will supply APWR with 2.7MW wind turbine gearboxes and also for the two companies to form a JV partnership for a wind turbine gearbox assembly plant.

January 6, 2009 – We wrote on December 30, that our near-term price target for Yingli Green Energy (NYSE:YGE) was in a range of $8 to $9 (then trading at $5.34) and as of yesterday, it closed at $7.25, up $1.91 or 35% since we wrote than commentary.
